This fall, there is something for everyone, whether a coolly cropped jean jacket from Hedi Slimane at Celine or a punked-out leather coat from Dolce & Gabbana with ’80s power shoulders that Cyndi Lauper would have loved. Charmingly cropped hemlines make an appearance with a tweed skirt suit from Chanel—which has come back in force as a day or evening look, complete with matching bag—and with Miu Miu’s sweet ultra-mini that would make library wonks blush if it appeared in the stacks. Louis Vuitton and Gucci, which did one of the most sought-after collaborations with Adidas, make a run for energetic, sports-inspired styles. One of this fall’s most popular shoes is a Mary-Jane gone grown-up, and nothing is more towering than Bottega Veneta’s version. And if that feels like too much heel to totter around in, a classic sneaker, such as Nike’s Air Jordans, is a perfect pairing for another classic: a Dior suit.
